Privacy Policy

Dookie Deluxe is a personal gut-health tracker. What you log is some of the most private information you have, and we've built the app so that it stays yours: private by default, shared only when you explicitly choose to share it, and deletable at any time.

The short version. We store the health entries you create so the app can show them back to you. We don't sell your data, we don't run ads, and nobody sees your logs unless you personally invite them. Location tracking is off unless you switch it on.

1. Who we are

Dookie Deluxe ("we", "us") is the data controller for the information described here. For any privacy question or request, email admin@dookiedeluxe.com.

2. What we collect

DataWhy
Account details
Email address, display name, optional profile photo
To create your account, sign you in, and let people you invite recognise you.
Health entries
Bowel movements (time, Bristol type, colour, volume, urgency, pain, blood, mucus, notes), water intake, meals and tags, medications and doses, symptoms
This is the core function of the app — to record your entries and show you trends, streaks and your Gut Regularity Score.
Approximate location
Latitude, longitude and a place name, attached to a bowel-movement entry
Optional and off by default. Only collected if you turn on "Track dookie locations" in your profile, and only at the moment you save an entry. Used solely to draw your private Dookie Map.
Sharing relationships
The email addresses you invite, and invitations sent to you
To connect you with your "Dookie Dudes" and enforce who is allowed to see what.
Notification preferences To send only the reminders and updates you asked for.
Waitlist email
Collected on dookiedeluxe.com
To email you once, when Dookie Deluxe reaches the App Store. Nothing else.
Support payments
Name or handle, email address and any message you write, if you support us through Buy Me a Coffee
To know who supported us so we can say thank you, and to keep our own records of what we've received. This is separate from the app — supporting us does not create an account, is not linked to your health entries, and grants no Premium features. We never see your card details; Buy Me a Coffee handles the payment.

We do not collect advertising identifiers, contacts, photos beyond a profile picture you choose, browsing history, or background location.

3. Sensitive data and your consent

Bowel, medication and symptom entries are health data, which receives special protection under laws such as the UK/EU GDPR. We process it on the basis of your explicit consent, given when you create an account and choose to log entries. You can withdraw that consent at any time by deleting your data or your account, as described in section 8.

4. How your data is stored

Your data lives in a Supabase-hosted PostgreSQL database, encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and at rest. Every table is protected by row-level security policies enforced by the database itself, not just by the app — meaning a request for someone else's records is rejected at the data layer.

Location data is kept separately

Dookie Map coordinates are stored in their own table with no read access granted to anyone but you. Even a Dookie Dude who can see your bowel-movement entries cannot see where they happened. That access only opens if you switch on "Share my Dookie Map", and it closes again the moment you switch it off.

5. Who can see your data

People you invite

You can invite someone by email to become a Dookie Dude. Once they accept, they can view your logged entries and calendar in read-only form — they can never edit or delete anything. You choose per category what they are notified about, and you can revoke their access at any time, which takes effect immediately.

Service providers

We use a small number of processors to run the service: Supabase (database, authentication and file storage), Expo (app delivery, over-the-air updates and push notifications), Netlify (website hosting and the early-access form), Resend (sending the confirmation email when you join the waitlist), Sentry (crash reports, with personal data collection switched off) and Buy Me a Coffee (voluntary support payments made on the website). These providers process data on our instructions only.

Buy Me a Coffee is its own data controller for the payment itself and has its own privacy policy. We receive only your name or handle, your email address and any message you chose to write — never card or bank details. If you'd like your supporter record removed, email admin@dookiedeluxe.com and we'll delete it.

Nobody else

We do not sell, rent or trade your personal data. We do not share it with advertisers or data brokers. We would only disclose data if legally compelled to do so, or to protect someone's safety.

6. Notifications

With your permission the app sends local reminders (for example, an evening nudge if you haven't logged) and updates about your Dookie Dudes' activity. Reminder scheduling happens on your device. You can turn any of these off in the app, or revoke notification permission in your device settings.

7. How long we keep it

We keep your entries for as long as your account exists, because the point of the app is your long-term history. Delete an individual entry and it is removed immediately. Delete your account and all associated records — entries, locations, sharing relationships and preferences — are permanently deleted within 30 days.

8. Your rights and how to use them

Depending on where you live, you have the right to access your data, correct it, delete it, export a copy, restrict or object to processing, and withdraw consent. In practice:

If you believe we've mishandled your data, you can complain to your local data protection authority — in the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).

9. Children

Dookie Deluxe is not intended for children under 13 (or under 16 where local law sets that threshold), and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will remove it.

10. International transfers

Our providers may process data in countries outside your own, including the United States. Where that happens, transfers are covered by appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses.

11. Changes to this policy

If we make a material change we'll update the date at the top of this page and, where the change meaningfully affects you, notify you in the app before it takes effect.

12. Contact

Questions, requests or complaints: admin@dookiedeluxe.com.

Not a medical device. Dookie Deluxe is a personal wellness product and does not diagnose conditions. The Gut Regularity Score, symptom checker and Dookology articles are educational wellness information derived from your own entries and general medical guidance — not clinical assessments. Always consult a qualified healthcare professional about your health.
